Baby Deer In Distress
Incredible bravery was shown by 27-year-old, Marc Headon, who was headed to pick up his daughter on Sunday evening (May 26th, 2019). He was driving with his friend Jamie past a baby deer in distress in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire and courageously stopped to save the poor thing.
“I was driving to pick up my daughter when something caught mine and Jamie’s eye in the canal,” Marc said. “I thought it was a fish as we do a lot of fishing, when we realised it was a deer.”
According to the story reported, Marc stopped the car once he realized it was a baby deer and got out to save it from drowning in a freezing cold canal.
“I noticed it was struggling and close to drowning, so without thinking I jumped in and pulled it to safety. I carried it to the top of the bank, where we wrapped it in blankets and tried to calm it and keep it warm, as it was near a busy road.”
Marc saved the day
Marc’s buddy, Jamie Toyne, filmed the whole rescue as it went down and you can hear him in the video saying “Come on Marc, get it bro, pull it this way, good lad.” They finally got it to dry land and Marc proceeded to wrap the baby deer in dry blankets to warm its body up.
Because of Marc’s decision to uncomfortably strip down to his boxers and get into freezing cold waters, now this lucky baby deer can live to see another day. It was an incredible moment caught on camera.
Jamie posted the video on Facebook and it quickly went viral, getting shared over 9,000 times and collecting around 15,000 likes. Everyone was commenting their excitement to see it survived and that they got to witness the rescue. Watch it yourself in the video below.
