Every year, Zymurgy Magazine names what it believes to be “The Best Beer in America.” One particular beer has held on to that prestigious title for years, though we bet most of you have never heard of it.
You see, Zymurgy Magazine is geared toward home brewers and beer enthusiasts. That means that you will never see a major name brand earn the publication’s “Best Beer in America” title.
Instead, for three years running, the “Best Beer in America” is a special brew hailing from just one U.S. state.
How did the magazine choose the winning beer? It did so by polling members of the American Homebrewers Association, who were asked to choose up to five of their favorite beers in the U.S. And the majority of the participants agreed that the best beer in the country can be found in the great state of Michigan!
The brew that has held on to the “Best Beer in America” title for three years is Bell’s Two Hearted Ale.
“Receiving this honor once, twice even was incredible,” said Larry Bell, the president and founder of of Bell’s Brewery. “But a third time? I am speechless and incredibly thankful to the homebrewing community and everyone who has helped make this beer what it is today.”
Those who want to taste the reigning “Best Beer in America” can do so by visiting one of the brewery’s two locations. One brewery is in the city of Kalamazoo and another is located in Galesburg.
While there, you can also enjoy the brewery’s Hopslam Ale, which tied for the seventh spot on the “Best Beers in America” list.
Have you ever tasted Bell’s Two Hearted Ale before? If so, you can now say you’ve had the best beer that America has to offer!
