Former President Joe Biden Has Released A Statement Following His Cancer Diagnosis
Former United States President Joe Biden’s office announced Sunday that he has been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer.
The cancer, his office explained, has also spread to the former President’s bones.
Biden released his first statement following the diagnosis on social media Monday morning, thanking everyone for the love and support.
“Cancer touches us all,” Biden said. “Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are the strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”

Biden’s Prostate Cancer Diagnosis Explained
The former President’s office said he was diagnosed on Friday with prostate cancer “characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.”
According to the American Cancer Society, a Gleason score of 9 means his disease is classified as “high-grade” and the cancer can spread very rapidly.
His office remains hopeful, however, and says the illness can be managed.
“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management,” his office continued.
Biden explained that the diagnosis was made after experiencing urinary symptoms which ultimately led doctors to find a nodule on his prostate.

President Donald Trump Releases Statement
President Trump has extended well-wishes to Biden following the announcement, saying he hopes for a speedy recovery.
“Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery,” Trump said.
Biden made headlines last summer, when news broke that he was dropping out of the 2024 Presidential race to allow another Democratic candidate to step up.
His decision followed a poor debate performance with Trump, raising concerns about his health status and ability to win re-election.
Biden blamed the performance on getting older, seemingly avoiding the seriousness of his visible decline.
“Folks, I don’t walk as easy as I used to. I don’t speak as smoothly as I used to. I don’t debate as well as I used to, but I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong, and I know how to do this job,” Biden said at the time.
