on Aug 16, 2022
Brit Turner, the drummer of the Southern/country rock band Blackberry Smoke, suffered a serious heart attack on Sunday (August 14). The band shared the news in a statement on their official social media pages:
“On Sun AUG 14, brother and drummer, @britturner13 suffered a serious heart attack,” the band’s statement read. “He was home in ATLANTA and was able to make it to the hospital in time for doctors to provide him as much help as possible. He received a stent in his coronary artery and is now in stable condition. He and his family appreciate privacy as he recovers.”
The band has decided to postpone the concert they had scheduled with Jamey Johnson at St. Louis Music Park on Tuesday (August 16). The show will now take place on September 13.
Blackberry Smoke will resume performing on Thursday (August 18) in Wichita, Kansa. The band plans to perform acoustic shows until Turner is able to get back onstage.
“We thank you all for your understanding, support, and prayers,” the statement ended.
