Blake Shelton Congratulates Gwen Stefani After Their Duet, “Nobody But You,” Goes #1

In December 2019, Blake Shelton released a compilation album titled Fully Loaded: God’s Country. The record contained a new collaboration with his girlfriend Gwen Stefani, titled, “Nobody But You.”

Shelton and Stefani previously sang together on “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” which was released in 2016 and peaked at the 13th spot on the Hot Country Songs chart. They later collaborated on a holiday track titled “You Make It Feel Like Christmas,” which was released in 2017.

It soon became clear that “Nobody But You” was poised to be the couple’s most successful collaboration yet. The song quickly climbed up the charts and experienced a huge sales surge after Shelton and Stefani performed it during the Grammy Awards in January.

A music video was released that same month, furthering the song’s popularity. Soon after, Shelton and Stefani each made appearances at each other’s shows to sing their duet live.

More recently, “Nobody But You” received renewed attention when Shelton and Stefani performed it for the ACM Presents: Our Country special and for an at-home edition of The Tonight Show.

Over the course of three weeks, “Nobody But You” has hopped up the Country Airplay chart one spot at a time. On last week’s chart (for the week ending on April 25), the song was in the #2 position behind Gabby Barrett‘s “I Hope.”

Now, “Nobody But You” has dashed past “I Hope” to claim the #1 spot on the Country Airplay chart for the week ending on May 2.

Shelton is no stranger to topping the Country Airplay chart, but this is new for Stefani. It marks her first time earning a #1 country song.

Her boyfriend was quick to congratulate her on her accomplishment, writing on Instagram, “Congratulations @gwenstefani on your first country song going #1 at country radio!!! Not bad for your first try!!!!”

Stefani was quick to react to the news as well. She expressed her disbelief that she now has a #1 country song to her name, and thanked Shelton for getting her involved in its recording.

“Trying to wrap my head around the fact that I even get to know Blake Shelton…-let alone be on Such a beautiful classic duet w him thank you !!!@Blakeshelton for taking me along on this ride with you!!” she wrote on Instagram.

Shelton also took the time to thank songwriters Shane McAnally, Ross Copperman, Josh Osborne and Tommy Lee James for penning the song, and spoke about how much it means to him.

“…you wrote a perfect song in which every lyric has meaning in my life, and I thank you,” Taste of Country quotes Shelton as saying.

Shelton then addressed his girlfriend. “Finally, thanks to Gwen for joining me and making this one of the most special songs I’ve recorded,” he said.
