Blake Shelton Reacts To Losing Coveted Title To Idris Elba

Just as his reign is coming to an end, Ellen DeGeneres invited Blake Shelton on her show to talk about his time as “The Sexiest Man Alive.” We expected him to be a little disappointed but definitely didn’t think he’d kill sexy all together…

A Year Of Sexy

Blake Shelton was excited when he first got named “Sexiest Man Alive” after taking the title from Dwayne Johnson. He was now on the same playing field as friend and Voice co-star, Adam Levine and ready to bring back some very unlikely style choices. Milking his title, he even told Ellen that he was going to bring back the mullet!

A Proud Partner

And Blake wasn’t the only one excited about his award. Girlfriend, Gwen Stefani went public about his achievement on Ellen’s show. She attributed his success to his fun-loving personality and ability to laugh at himself.

Not Everyone Agreed

Not everyone was a fan of Blake’s nomination, though. Many believed it should have been given to someone less goofy. People got down-right mean on social media with some cruel posts that would make any average person cry. Luckily, Blake has a great sense of humor and decided to take it all with a grain of salt. Reading “mean tweets” about his award, he couldn’t help from cracking up.

His Reign Comes To The End

While Blake didn’t let the negativity get to him and has been enjoying his year of sexy – all good things must come to an end.

Blake denied that he has to pass on his crown and told Ellen that “I feel like sexy ends when I’m not Sexiest Man Alive anymore.”

And while Blake said it is all over, he still wishes the next man luck after knowing just how stressful holding that title can be.

The New Sexiest Man

Now, the title has been passed down to Idris Elba for the year of 2018. The British actor and DJ has performed in numerous television shows and movies including The Office, Thor, The Wire and was even the voice of Chief Bogo in Zootopia!
