Just a mere 11 years old at the time, Mckenzie George blew her audience away with her striking performance of the lively hit “I Saw The Light”.
Performing at a local cafe during an Easter celebration, the young girl was greeted with a vibrant musical beat and cheers from her fans as she kicked off her sensational performance!
“I wandered so aimless life filled with sin/ I wouldn’t let my dear savior in/ Then Jesus came like a stranger in the night/ Praise the lord I saw the light,” she sang as her voice echoed throughout the Gospel Cafe.
Her audience had no shortage of cheers and hollers, captivated by the young girl’s exceptional voice well beyond her years!
The gospel song was originally written by country music legend Hank Williams and released in 1948, becoming one of the singer’s most popular tunes. Although this song has been performed by an extensive list of artists throughout its time, the song was not an instant success for the singer, although gaining momentum in light of its catchy beat and inspiring message.
#MusicMonday Hank Williams Sr. began a legacy of old timey Southern music. His signature Alabama accent & classic songs are still among our favorites. ’I Saw the Light’ captures gospel music w/ that folk twang many associate w/ country areas of Alabama. https://t.co/Pr0VMD5lL6 pic.twitter.com/atbPOwoeEK
