Jennifer Lopez Opens Up About Keith Urban’s ‘American Idol’ Breakdown

As she reflects on what quite possibly is the most emotional moment in American Idol history, Jennifer Lopez reveals that she wasn’t really paying attention!
She wasn’t paying attention to Keith Urban, that is. She was locked into watching Kelly Clarkson’s emotionally-charged performance of “Piece By Piece” so much, that she didn’t even realize Urban was bawling.
“I was so into her performance, I didn’t even realize Keith Urban was falling apart next to me,” Lopez said on Late Night with Seth Myers. “Not one time did I look next at and notice he was sobbing.”
It wasn’t until she watched the episode at home that she found out he was crying. The fact that this is the final season of American Idol and the original Season One winner was singing on the Idol stage for the last time ever may have added some extra emotion.
“It’s been such an amazing show, I’ve watched it since the first season,“she said. “It’s brought us so many great moments.”
