Rare Music Video Surfaces Of Joey Feek Singing During Solo Career

One of country music’s most heartbreaking and widely-known love stories existed between Joey Martin Feek and husband Rory Feek. Tragically, Joey passed away recently from late-stage cancer, but their love story is truly beautiful and everlasting. 

As part of the beginning of their love story, the pair met when Joey Martin was an aspiring singer in Nashville and Rory Feek was a songwriter churning out hits for stars like Blake Shelton. 

Before Joey+Rory gained tremendous commercial success and fame from their long run on Can You Duet, Joey was spreading her wings as a solo artist. She even was signed to Sony Records for a while before marrying Rory in 2002. Just a couple years later, the couple debuted her first record. 

Produced by Rory and issued on their own label, Giantslayer Records, Joey’s album Strong Enough To Cry was a collection of classic country songs and songs written by Joey herself. One of these songs was “Red”. 

One reviewer calls the track a typical country song that’s “urgent and uptempo” with cute barks from the dog in the background. She also says that it would “go down well live and [she] quite enjoyed it” in a “guilty-pleasure” way. 

Discovered recently was a music video taped for this song which could mean that it was destined to be a single released to radio if the album gained traction or the right kind of attention.
