The superstar country lady known for hits like “The Song Remembers When” and “She’s In Love With The Boy” took the stage during a Nashville talent show trying to earn a record deal by issuing notable performances.

Trisha Yearwood was just 24-years-old in 1988 when she stepped out on the stage of You Can Be A Star. Just a year earlier she had graduated from Belmont University with a degree in business administration and had secured a full-time job working with a record company as both an intern and singing background vocals for other artists.

In this rare video made available by YouTube user DirkWorks2, young Yearwood is competing on the talent show that was aired for six years on The Nashville Network (TNN) and hosted by Opry legend Jim Ed Brown

Every musician starts somewhere, and Yearwood is no different – getting a boost from her publicity while on the show. Other country artists like Randy Travis and Alan Jackson also worked with the show before they hit the country charts.

The young to-be-country-star placed second in the competition after singing a stunning song about true Southern hospitality and you can surely see why she rose to stardom!

Watch this amazing performance by one of country’s leading ladies in the video below and prepare yourself for another epic television performance by Yearwood when she stars as Mary in FOX’s musical special, The Passion, on Sunday, March 20th.
