Keith Whitley and Lorrie Morgan are considered as two of the most influential artists in the country music industry. Not only were Whitley and Morgan two of the biggest names in country music at one point, but they were husband and wife as well.
Whitley and Morgan were married in 1986, and had one son together, named Jesse. However, they were only married for three years, since Whitley passed away in 1989.
The same year of Whitley’s death, Morgan spoke to the Orlando Sentinel about him, saying, “There’s not anybody physically or even mentally that would even compare with Keith Whitley.“
Now, Morgan is planning to honor her late husband in a huge way…by including acoustic versions of four of his songs on her new greatest hits album.
Two of the songs are called “I Went Crazy for Awhile” and “Hopelessly Yours,” which were written and co-written by Whitley. However, the songs may not sound familiar to fans, because Whitley never released them himself.
Morgan shared the news about her greatest hits collection in a press release, revealing the album’s title is A Picture Of Me – Greatest Hits & More. Not only will the album include the songs written by Whitley, but new recordings of some of her most-beloved hits.
Fans don’t have to wait to get their hands on Morgan’s new album, it’s already available for sale online, and through iTunes. You can listen to Morgan’s version of “Hopelessly Yours” below.
We’re sure Whitley would be so proud of Morgan and everything she has accomplished over the years!
