Carrie Underwood is no stranger to Heart’s song “Alone.”

“Alone” is a power ballad song by the American rock band Heart, released in 1987 as a single from their ninth studio album, Bad Animals. The song was written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly, who were also responsible for writing other hit songs such as “Like a Virgin” by Madonna and “Eternal Flame” by The Bangles.

“Alone” features Ann Wilson’s powerful vocals and Nancy Wilson’s guitar work, which helped the song become a major hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States, as well as reaching the top 10 in several other countries.

The lyrics of “Alone” describe the feeling of loneliness and the search for true love. The song’s emotional intensity, combined with its memorable melody and powerful performance, has made it a popular song for romantic occasions, such as weddings and proms.

Carrie Underwood first performed the power ballad on American Idol in 2005 when she was trying to branch out of her country roots. Following her performance of “Alone,” judge Simon Cowell predicted that not only would Carrie win the show, she would also become the most successful American Idol singer when the show is over.

Before teaming up with the original performers of “Alone,” Underwood and the Wilson sisters, who comprise the band Heart, sat down for a short interview about the power-ballad. Of the song, Underwood said that “it really does show that great music transcends generations and decades, because years forward, I guarantee you, my children will be listening to them.

We wonder if Isaiah and Jacob have listened to Heart! All signs point to yes.

During their performance, Ann Wilson kicked off the song with a powerful solo of the first verse and chorus. Carrie came in in the second verse and dominated her chorus, as well. When Ann and Carrie harmonized during the most powerful part of the song, not only did our jaws drop, but our arms became covered in goosebumps!

We will be replaying this performance over and over again! Watch the incredible performance below.
