When Garth Brooks took to the stage for an encore during a concert in Ottawa, he broke out into a classic song that the audience knew well. Only thing, it wasn’t one of Brooks’ songs, but rather a big hit by another country superstar.

Brooks chose to entertain the crowd with an acoustic cover of George Strait‘s 1983 hit single, “Amarillo by Morning.” Although he is known for his larger than life performances, Brooks kept this one sweet and simple.

When he first started singing, Brooks was out on stage alone, and the crowd was happy to sing along with him. The sound from Brooks’ acoustic guitar was the only instrument heard for a while, before a fiddle player stepped up and joined him at his side.

From that moment on, the fiddler continued playing along with Brooks. Once he finished singing, the fiddler took over to play a breathtaking solo that produced an abundance of cheers from the audience.

Overall, Brooks’ performance of “Amarillo by Morning” left everyone in absolute awe. Watch it below and you’ll find out exactly why.

We love Brooks’ rendition of Strait’s hit song! Which one do you think he should cover next?
