Sturgill Simpson Debuts New Song Aboutโ€ฆWAFFLE HOUSE? This Will Have You Cracking Up!

Sturgill Simpson has had the country music industry buzzing with the release of his third studio album A Sailorโ€™s Guide to Earth on April 15. Fans first learned about the album a little over a month beforehand, when Simpson released its first single, โ€œBrace for Impact (Live a Little).โ€ But one track that really had people talking was Simpsonโ€™s cover of the hit Nirvana song โ€œIn Bloom,โ€ which he released on March 24.

Besides โ€œIn Bloomโ€ all of the songs on A Sailorโ€™s Guide to Earth are written and composed by Simpson himself. This just goes to show not only his talent as a singer, but a songwriter as well.

During a recent appearance on the  Late Show With Stephen Colbert to promote his new album, Simpson showed off his musical skills yet again with a new, original song he debuted on the show. But itโ€™s not what you thinkโ€ฆthe song was actually a humorous tune which Simpson performed along with Colbert as a duet.

So what was the song about, you ask? Waffle House!

You read correctlyโ€ฆSimpson and Colbert paid tribute to the popular breakfast chain with a hilarious song called โ€œNo Shoes, No Shirt, No Knuckleheads.โ€ The two of them praised Waffle House for all of its wonderful food, but they made sure to set some ground rules for anyone who thinks about visiting the restaurant.

โ€œAll these nice upstanding families just came for some food,โ€ Simpson sang. โ€œIf youโ€™re gonna cause a ruckus, then I must object. These are some world famous waffles son now show some respect.โ€œ

We couldnโ€™t get through watching Simpson and Colbert sing their Waffle House song without cracking up. For one, the subject matter is hysterical, and two, it actually sounds like something that could be a real country song!

Check out Simpsonโ€™s new song about Waffle House in the video below, and as hard as you try, you wonโ€™t be able to stop laughing!

Although the Waffle House song is not on A Sailorโ€™s Guide to Earth, Colbert is hopeful that it could make its way to the Waffle House jukeboxes in the restaurant. We would love to see that happen!
