Sturgill Simpson Debuts New Song AboutโฆWAFFLE HOUSE? This Will Have You Cracking Up!
on Apr 19, 2016
Sturgill Simpson has had the country music industry buzzing with the release of his third studio album A Sailorโs Guide to Earth on April 15. Fans first learned about the album a little over a month beforehand, when Simpson released its first single, โBrace for Impact (Live a Little).โ But one track that really had people talking was Simpsonโs cover of the hit Nirvana song โIn Bloom,โ which he released on March 24.
Besides โIn Bloomโ all of the songs on A Sailorโs Guide to Earth are written and composed by Simpson himself. This just goes to show not only his talent as a singer, but a songwriter as well.
During a recent appearance on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert to promote his new album, Simpson showed off his musical skills yet again with a new, original song he debuted on the show. But itโs not what you thinkโฆthe song was actually a humorous tune which Simpson performed along with Colbert as a duet.
So what was the song about, you ask? Waffle House!
You read correctlyโฆSimpson and Colbert paid tribute to the popular breakfast chain with a hilarious song called โNo Shoes, No Shirt, No Knuckleheads.โ The two of them praised Waffle House for all of its wonderful food, but they made sure to set some ground rules for anyone who thinks about visiting the restaurant.
โAll these nice upstanding families just came for some food,โ Simpson sang. โIf youโre gonna cause a ruckus, then I must object. These are some world famous waffles son now show some respect.โ
We couldnโt get through watching Simpson and Colbert sing their Waffle House song without cracking up. For one, the subject matter is hysterical, and two, it actually sounds like something that could be a real country song!
Check out Simpsonโs new song about Waffle House in the video below, and as hard as you try, you wonโt be able to stop laughing!
Although the Waffle House song is not on A Sailorโs Guide to Earth, Colbert is hopeful that it could make its way to the Waffle House jukeboxes in the restaurant. We would love to see that happen!
