LeAnn Rimes Immortalizes Prince With Emotional ‘Purple Rain’ Tribute

Long before Prince passed away, musicians were honoring his legacy by covering his most memorable songs. Since his death, many of these videos have surfaced and we feel the need to share them with y’all because they are just too good not to.

LeAnn Rimes often works tributes into her set during live shows. In the past she’s covered Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Elvis Presley and Whitney Houston.

In 1998, she released her third studio album, Sittin’ On Top Of The World, which contained a very famous tribute. Prince’s “Purple Rain” was the final track and quite possibly her best song on the album.

“Purple Rain” is ranked No. 143 by Rolling Stone on their list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Following Prince’s death, the song catapulted to No. 1 on the US and UK iTunes charts and re-entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 17.

Rimes’ version is an incredible tribute to Prince and when we listen to it, we can feel him smiling down on us. His legacy lives on through his music and this is an incredible way to remember him by.
