Throughout this season of The Voice, two names have consistently been mentioned as the frontrunners by the coaches and fans alike…Adam Wakefield of Team Blake and Alisan Porter of Team Christina. Week after week, Adam captivates the audience with his soulful country sound, while Alisan tears up the stage with her powerful rock ballads.
During Monday night’s (May 16) semi-finals, the remaining eight contestants paired up with someone from another team to perform a duet. In what may be one of the most epic collaborations in Voice history, Adam and Alisan joined forces in order to perform a classic country tune from the 1970s.
“Angel from Montgomery” has been considered a staple in country music ever since it appeared on singer-songwriter John Prine’s 1971 self-titled album. Many notable artists from multiple genres have covered the song over the years, including John Denver, Bonnie Raitt, and Tanya Tucker.
Now, Adam and Alisan join the ranks of talented artists who have covered this classic country song.
Despite the fact that Adam and Alisan typically have different musical styles, they managed to blend their voices together perfectly in this song. Although they kept their voices quiet, every single word still contained a wealth of power, especially when they started singing at the same time.
The song really shows off the versatility that both Adam and Alisan have, a quality that makes for a true artist. When they softly sang the final notes of the song, the crowd roared to life, making it clear how much they enjoyed their collaboration.
After watching this, you’ll wonder why they didn’t have Adam and Alisan do a duet sooner! You can check it out in the video below.
Those who follow The Voice will learn on Tuesday night (May 17) if their favorites made it to the finale. Only four of the eight remaining contestants will make it through the elimination.
After their stunning duet, we feel that Adam and Alisan earned their spots in the finale.
