The name George Strait goes hand in hand with the word “legend.” There is no doubt about that.
He has made history in so many different ways, there’s no other word to describe him other than legendary!
There’s also another word that should be associated with Strait: President. With all the crazy politics that are going on these days, it’s nice to know there’s always another option!
Here are 7 reasons why we think George Strait would make a great President!
1. He Is Charming
Anyone that has ever met George Strait can vouch that he is the most charming man ever.
We’ve never even met him and we know that! Just by watching him perform “Check Yes Or No,” he lures us in with his captivating personality.
2. He Is Already Known As ‘The King’
Many people have the nickname “The King,” but everyone knows George Strait is The King of Country Music.
He has more number one songs than any singer in any genre and has the most CMAs than anyone in the business!
Y’all better “Write This Down” because he’s not going anywhere anytime soon! He proved that by winning CMA Entertainer of the Year just a few years ago, 25 years after the first time he won the award!
3. He Knows What Hard Work Looks Like
Not only is he an extremely successful country singer, which takes a whole lot of hard work, he also is a cowboy.
He grew up in the ranching environment in Poteet, Texas and eventually began participating in rodeos in the team roping event. Becoming a master in this event takes a ton of practice, which Strait obviously does because he’s won himself a handful of buckles.

4. He Has A Huge Fanbase
George Strait won’t have to worry about winning people over, because he has already stolen hearts across America.
After his Cowboy Rides Away Tour, no one thought he’d tour again. But a couple years ago, he made an announcement that he’d be playing a few shows in Las Vegas for a few selected dates and those tickets sold out so fast!
Because of how fast the tickets sold out, he added more and more dates. Since the very first date, his Strait To Vegas concerts have sold-out over 20 shows.
Watch him perform “Cowboy Rides Away” at what everyone thought would be his final show ever.
5. Norma Would Be A Fantastic First Lady
Strait’s wife of over 45 years, Norma, would be a loving and supportive First Lady to Strait’s President.
They’ve known each other since they were children and married shortly after graduating high school. She was there when Strait first started out on his dream of becoming a country music singer and accompanies him to every event.
She started a foundation, The Jenifer Strait Foundation, which donates money to children’s charities near their hometown, in honor of their late daughter.
6. He’s A Doctor
Okay, so he’s an honorary doctor, so what?!
In 1979, Strait graduated from Texas State with a degree in agriculture, but many years later, the university presented him with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters.
University president Denise M. Trauth presented him with the incredible honor.
“George Strait is the most famous and successful country music singer in the world,” she said. “He has had more Number One hits than any singer of any kind in history. And he’s our most prominent living graduate. The university is delighted to be able to honor him in this way.”
“We present honorary degrees only to individuals who have reached extraordinary levels of achievement,” said Kent Adams, chairman of the Board of Regents of the Texas State University System, who also called Strait a “living legend.”
He might be an honorary doctor, but he is an actual “Troubadour.”
7. He Already Is “Endorsed” By A Former President
In 2003, President George W. Bush awarded Strait with the National Medal of Arts. Strait is second from the left in the photo below, with President Bush in the center.
According to the National Endowment for the Arts website, the Medal of Arts is “the highest award given to artists and arts patrons by the United States government…given to individuals or groups who are deserving of special recognition by reason of their outstanding contributions to the excellence, growth, support and availability of the arts in the United States.“
Basically, because President Bush hand selected Strait to receive this honor, that counts as an endorsement, right?
