“Voice” Favorite Gets Kicked Out After Shoddy Carrie Underwood Cover

One Voice contestant loses a chance to be saved with a flawed performance of a song that rocked the Country and Gospel charts.

During the Tuesday (May 17th) live episode, America voted on all the contestants, choosing to eliminate four during the biggest elimination round yet.

Of those four, two were dismissed immediately due to their ranking in number of votes. The other two were chosen from an “instant save” performance of the middle-three ranking artists, leaving one person to continue into the season’s finale.

A country fan-favorite, Mary Sarah, dominated with her blind audition at the beginning of the season, but unfortunately, her struggle with Carrie Underwood’s “Something in the Water” didn’t help to improve her popularity with viewers.

Although the coaches picked out parts of her performance that were notable, coach Blake Shelton seemed to know that she was getting sent home following her performance.

With that, the results poured in from a “live Twitter save” and it was clear she wasn’t going to be moving into the finals.

Luckily, as Shelton foreshadowed, there will be an open door for her when she returns to Nashville.

Watch her performance of “Something in the Water” below.
