Garth Brooks Gushes About His Granddaughter In Heart-Melting Interview

July 23, 2013, was a day that changed Garth Brooks‘ life forever. That day his middle daughter, August, made him a first-time grandfather when she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.

Named Karalynn, Garth’s granddaughter is already approaching her third birthday. Over the years, Garth has enjoyed watching Karalynn grow as a person while August grows as a mother.

In a recent interview with radio station Kicks 105.5, Garth couldn’t help but gush about his daughter and granddaughter. He praised August for being such a good mother to Karalynn, saying “No offense to my mom, or Ms. Yearwood’s mom, or Sandy’s mom. I’m not sure any of them could hold a candle to my daughter.“

As for how he feels about his granddaughter, Garth absolutely adores her. Even though she hasn’t even turned three yet, Garth says that Karalynn is the one who keeps the entire family strong. 

“It always turns out that that baby is the glue that holds the whole family together,” he said. “She’s the little stem that kind of holds the whole family together, and it’s kind of new for us.” 

August frequently shares photos of Karalynn on social media, including one particularly adorable snapshot of her wearing a unicorn outfit while riding a rocking horse. It seems like Karalynn is following in her grandpa’s country footsteps!

Although Garth may be the best-selling solo artist in U.S. history, above all else, he is a father first. He officially retired after releasing his album Scarecrow in 2001 so he could spend more time with his daughters. Although he performed a few shows over the years, he vowed he would not return to touring until his youngest daughter graduated from high school.

Garth stayed true to his promise, and now that all of his girls are done with school, he’s out of retirement for good. But as much as he loves performing, it’s clear he loves his family even more. You can watch his full interview about his daughters and granddaughter below.
