A charming tribute came from two of comedy’s finest fellows during an episode of late-night television in 2016.
In honor of Fleet Week, host of The Tonight Show, and legendary comedian, Jimmy Fallon, brought famous funny-man Adam Sandler on stage for a parody that left the audience of troops rolling in laughter! (And Garth Brooks too!)
Taking one of the best-known 90s country hits, “Friends In Low Places,” and morphing it into a military-themed tune “Friends on All Bases,” these two issued one crafty rendition of the hit song!
Donning some classy 10-gallon hats, Fallon began with dedicated honor to the men & women serving in the armed forces, while Sandler came up with witty and humorous lines like:
“Now you’re back in town and keep us safe and sound / From that crazy-ass Elmo in Times Square”
“And you’re good looking too, and if I saw you / On Tinder you’d know I’d swipe right”
All-in-all, the duo knocked this tribute out of the park and the troop-filled audience was on their feet in applause the entire time! But, what did Garth Brooks have to say about this wickedly funny take on his super-hit?
He LOVED it!
“This is HILARIOUS!!!!!” He wrote in a social media post the day after the performance. “Jimmy Fallon / Adam Sandler – What about the third verse???”
