An Emotional & Treasured Country Track

One of the most beautiful songs in all of country music is Vince Gill‘s emotional single from 1995, “Go Rest High on That Mountain.”

Vince started writing the song following the death of country star Keith Whitley, but didn’t finish it until years later, when his brother, Bob Gill, passed away.

Due to the popularity of “Go Rest High,” many other artists have covered it over the years. One such artist is a young man by the name of Maddox Ross, and by young, we mean 12.

A Little Singer With A Powerful Voice

Despite his young age, Maddox is no stranger to the stage.

According to his official YouTube channel, he’s been performing ever since he was five years old.

The singer-songwriter started to gain nationwide recognition after he made it into the Top 20 on Season 6 of the America’s Got Talent YouTube Challenge.

Since then, Maddox has continued to perform along with his band, and in 2016 entertained a crowd at the Centennial Rodeo Opry in Stockyards City, Oklahoma. Maddox sang many songs that day, but it was his cover of “Go Rest High” that swept everyone away.

You’ll Be Amazed By What You Hear

Anyone who’s heard “Go Rest High” before knows it isn’t an easy song to sing. But Maddox pulled it off perfectly, and his voice contains an unimaginable amount of power and control for someone so young.

You can hear the emotion in Maddox’s voice whenever he hits and holds out the long notes in the chorus. These are the moments that will bring tears to your eyes, due to the sheer beauty of Maddox’s voice.

This is one performance you have to see for yourself, and you can in the video below. We think there’s definitely a place in country music for Maddox!
