A True Country Queen
After performing for over 60 years, Brenda Lee has dozens of chart-topping hits to her name, 47 of which were during the 1960s alone.
For that decade, she is ranked as the fourth biggest artist in terms of hits, with Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and Ray Charles being the only ones ahead of her.
Her Biggest Hits
Out of the many songs Lee has recorded over the years, there are two that always stick out in people’s minds. One is the popular holiday tune “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree,” which has been a Christmas favorite for more than half a century.
Lee’s other signature song is her 1960 single “I’m Sorry,” which was released on her self-titled studio album when she was only 15 years old.
The song ended up claiming the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and peaked at the 12th spot on the UK Singles chart.
All of these years later, the song remains Lee’s most memorable tune, right next to “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.”
You can watch 15-year-old Lee singing her signature song “I’m Sorry” in the video below.
It’s hard to believe that such a powerful voice is coming from someone so young!
