If y’all were wondering if the talented Carrie Underwood was always a phenomenal singer, we can definitely answer that question for you. Yes, she was!
We were first introduced to Underwood on the fourth season of American Idol. She blew the judges away during her first audition with “I Can’t Make You Love Me.”
After she was crowned the winner of Season 4, she went on the have one of the most successful careers of an American Idol champion. Her 2005 debut single, “Inside You Heaven,” is the only country song to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
Like most American Idols, Underwood has been singing since she was very young, and even recorded a few songs when she was a teenager. We came upon this fantastic recording of Underwood when she was 13 years old singing the classic hymn, “Amazing Grace,” and it’s phenomenal.
Underwood clearly has a soft spot in her heart for the song, since she referenced the song, and included part of it, in her 2014 song “Something In The Water.”
In this old recording, she has that same Carrie-sound that we all know and love, though it’s obvious she’s much younger. Her rendition is stunning and timeless. Underwood’s vocals are beautifully calm, but towards the end she busts out that powerhouse-style that gives us all chills. This is a must-listen.
