Luke Bryan Emotionally Opens Up About His Life After Tragedy (Heartwarming)

Luke Bryan is the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year and certainly knows how to shake it.  Who we see on stage is who he is off stage, but what we don’t normally see is the pain he has gone through over the years.

Days before he was going to move to Nashville to pursue his music career, his older brother Chris was killed in a car accident. He stayed home to be with family at their time of need and work for his dad at their farm. Eventually, his dad fired him and made him move to Nashville to pursue his dream.

Soon after his career took off, he performed at the Grand Ole Opry.  His sister, Kelly, organized a trip with 130 of their closest family and friends to watch him perform.  A few days later, Kelly passed away unexpectedly due to unknown causes.  To this day, her cause of death is a mystery to Luke and his family.

Luke went on to become one of the most in-demand country artists out there.  He released a song called “Drink A Beer” in 2013, which takes a unique approach to the theme of loss by addressing the emotions that follows the loss of a loved one rather than focusing on how a person copes or moves on.  It’s his most vulnerable song yet and when he sings it, you just know he’s thinking of his older siblings.

Recently, tragedy struck his family again when his sister’s husband, Ben, passed away in late 2014.  He and his wife took in his nephew, Tilden and he talked to Ellen DeGeneres about how it is going raising three boys now.
