George Strait’s Amazing Performance of “Blue Clear Sky” Live At The Astrodome

Some Kings wear crowns. Only one wears a cowboy hat, and that is The King of CountryGeorge Strait!  We’ve found an amazing video of The King performing his hit “Blue Clear Sky” at The Astrodome!

Blue Clear Sky” was released in March 1996 and was the first single and title track from George’s album of the same name.  This song reached #1 on Billboard Hot Country Songs and we know why! George’s catchy lyrics and melodic introduction has you tapping your toes right away!

In an interview with Billboard, George says he was hesitant about recording the song, because he thought the lyrics should’ve been “clear blue sky.” One of the song writers, Bob DiPiero, said it was written “blue clear sky” because of a line from the movie “Forrest Gump.” In the movie, Forrest is talking about Jenny and said, “Jenny was gone, then all of a sudden, out of the blue clear sky, she was back.” Bob said the line spoke to him and wanted to write a song about how love seems unfindable and then out of the blue, you find it.

Watch the performance below and you’ll be sure to singing along with The King!

 Lyrics

You swear you’ve had enough, you’re ready to give up
On that little lie they call love, then out of the blue clear sky
Fallin’ right into your hands, like rain on the desert sand
It’s the last thing you had planned out of the blue clear sky.

Here she comes a walkin’ talkin’ true love
Sayin’ I been lookin’ for you love
Surprise your new love has arrived
Out of the blue clear sky.

Ain’t love a funny thing, one day you’re givin’ up the dream
And the next you’re pickin’ out a ring out of the blue clear sky.

Here she comes a walkin’ talkin’ true love
Sayin’ I been lookin’ for you love
Surprise your new love has arrived
Out of the blue clear sky.
