on Jun 16, 2015
Talk about a dazzling performance. 14-year-old LeAnn Rimes took the stage to perform the timeless song “Unchained Melody“. This song has been covered hundreds of times, so to perform a rendition that outshines so many others is really a great feat.
“Unchained Melody” was released in 1955. The music is by Alex North and lyrics are thanks to Hy Zaret. It was used as the theme for the film Unchained, with vocals by Todd Duncan. It’s one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century and has been covered an estimated 500 plus times in numerous different languages. Some more notable renditions are by Les Baxter, Jimmy Young, Roy Hamilton, Al Hibbler, The Righteous Brothers , whose version was used in the hit film Ghost, Heart, Cyndi Lauper, Barry Manilow, and Elvis Presley.
LeAnn’s performance is stunning to say the least. It’s basically the definition of talent. We recommend listening all the way through, because once the performance hits 3:15, we guarantee y’all will get chills from her fantastic vocals.
UNCHAINED MELODY – LYRICS
Oh, my love, my darling
I’ve hungered for your touch
A long, lonely time
Time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?
I need your love
I need your love
God speed your love to me
Lonely rivers flow
To the sea, to the sea
To the open arms of the sea
Lonely rivers sigh
“Wait for me, wait for me”
I’ll be coming home, wait for me
Oh, my love, my darling
I’ve hungered, for your touch
A long, lonely time
Time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?
I need your love
I need your love
God speed your love to me
Lonely mountains gaze
At the stars, at the stars
Waiting for the dawn of the day
All alone I gaze
At the stars, at the stars
Dreaming of my love far away
Oh, my love, my darling
I’ve hungered, for your touch
A long, lonely time
Time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?
I need your love
I need your love
God speed your love to me
