In the first episode of her new web series, EmiSunshine’s Americana Corner, the spunky 10-year-old interviews and performs with Holly Williams, daughter of Hank Williams, Jr. and granddaughter of Hank Williams.
EmiSunshine asks about Holly’s writing process, how she found her own in the music industry, her favorite breakfast while on tour, and new music. When asked about her musical heroes, Holly lists Dolly Parton, Merle Haggard, and Kris Kristofferson as a few of them. She also talks about her song, “Waiting On June“. With her Williams side of the family very well known in the country music industry, she wanted to write a song about her mother’s side of the family, which she did so wonderfully in “Waiting on June“
After the interview, Emi sweetly asks Holly, “Would you sing one of your grandfather’s songs with me?” To which Holly responded with, “I would love to!” She introduced the song as one of her favorite’s and revealed she sings it at her shows a lot. Holly began to sing one of Hank Willams’ most famous songs, “I Saw The Light,” and Emi joined her in the chorus.
“I Saw The Light” was released in 1948 and didn’t see much success right away. It is now one of the most recognized songs and has been covered by countless musicians in many different genres. It was ranked first in Country Music Television’s 20 Greatest Songs of Faith in 2005.

Lyrics
I wandered so aimless life filed with sin
I wouldn’t let my dear savior in
Then Jesus came like a stranger in the night
Praise the Lord I saw the light
I saw the light, I saw the light
No more darkness, no more night
Now I’m so happy no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord I saw the light
Just like a blind man I wandered along
Worries and fears I claimed for my own
Then like the blind man that God gave back his sight
Praise the Lord I saw the light
I saw the light, I saw the light
No more darkness, no more night
Now I’m so happy no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord I saw the light
I was a fool to wander and stray
Straight is the gate and narrow’s the way
Now I have traded the wrong for the right
Praise the Lord I saw the light
I saw the light, I saw the light
No more darkness, no more night
Now I’m so happy no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord I saw the light
