Country superstar Tim McGraw paid his respects to the late “Great Lady of Country Music” in his tribute to Lynn Anderson’s iconic “(I Never Promised You A) Rose Garden.”

After the news broke that Lynn had passed on July 30, 2015, McGraw dedicated the performance to the woman who had been a symbol of inspiration and strength to so many people.

“Hey this is for Lynn Anderson and her family…much respect,” says McGraw before bowing his cowboy hat in respect. McGraw performs Anderson’s Grammy award-winning worldwide mega-hit “(I Never Promised You A) Rose Garden,” in an intimate performance backstage with his crew.

Lynn Rene Anderson was born September 26, 1947 in Grand Fork, North Dakota. She broke out onto the country music scene with her first hit “Ride, Ride, Ride” at the age of 19. She tore through barriers for women in the country music genre and was the first female country artist to win an American Music Award in 1974 as well as the first female headliner to sell out Madison Square Garden later on that year.

Anderson’s “(I Never Promised You A) Rose Garden” topped the country music charts for five consecutive weeks even reaching number three on the Billboard all-genre chart making it one of the most successful country crossover recordings to date.
