Did y’all know that Elvis released a country album in 1971? It had a great lineup of classics and traditional tunes, including a song that Willie Nelson penned himself, “Funny How Time Slips Away”.

“Funny How Time Slips Away” was released on Elvis Country, the King’s eleventh studio album. The album reached number 12 on the Billboard 200. The melancholy tune talks about running into a former lover after a long time, who has already moved on even though she had told the narrator that she’d love him until the end of time, so there’s a sense of betrayal in the lyrics as well.

Anything Elvis sings is a hit and a fantastic listen, so it’s no different when it comes to the Willie Nelson classic. Elvis’ vocals are perfect for this slow, sad song. His crooning really is the icing on the cake

Folks, you really don’t want to miss out on this gem.

FUNNY HOW TIME SLIPS AWAY LYRICS

Well, hello there
My, it’s been a long, long time
How am I doing?
Oh, I guess that I’m doing fine
It’s been so long now,
But it seems now, that it was only yesterday
Gee, ain’t it funny, how time slips away.
How’s your new love?
I hope that he’s doin fine
I heard you told him,
That you’d love him till the end of time
Now, that’s the same thing that you told me
Seems like just the other day
Gee, ain’t it funny, how time slips away.
I gotta go now
I guess I’ll see you around
Don’t know when though
Never know, when I’ll be back in town
But remember, what I tell you
In time your gonna pay
And it’s surprising, how time slips away…
