In 2012, Willie Robertson gave a commencement speech at his alma mater, Harding University, where he received his business degree that helped boost his family's duck call business. Willie wasn't about to let this chance to spread the gospel to impressionable young minds slip out of his hands though.
Willie starts off talking about his life after college, the birth of Sadie and John Luke. He was asked once about how he keeps himself grounded so that all his success doesn't go to his head. His response is both simple and anything but. "What keeps us grounded, what keeps our head above water is certainly our faith and the Lord and the things that we learn," he says. "But it's a foundation, it was built. The Lord prepared us." He also credits Harding University and the classes he took for preparing him as well.
Willie mentions Hollywood and befriending famous people. These famous people don't want to know about hunting or television from Willie. "It's what I gathered over my life from this," Willie says, holding up the Bible. "Let me tell you, this I know. It won't put my heaven of what I know. It's that you got to live it, especially in front of them."
"You have a hope that you're going to heaven. Everything on this earth seems very small. I ain't nervous at all; I definitely ain't scared. We're gonna try take as many people as we can up there. Life is short; life is temporary. Root yourself here." Willie expresses that these graduating students need to understand that they need to know where they're going and that they're confident they'll be getting there.
