Navy SEAL Chris Kyle: a husband, a father, a friend, and an American hero. Though he was taken from this world way too soon along with his good friend Chad Littlefield, he’ll always be remembered through his legacy. He saved a tremendous amount of lives while overseas and continued to help and support veterans when he came home, and has been recognized because of it.
Chief Petty Officer Chris Kyle, along with Leuitenant Colonel Ed Dyess, were posthumously awarded Texas Legislative Medal of Honor on Wednesday, August 26 by Texas Governor Greg Abbott. This is a huge honor because it’s the highest military decoration that can be awarded in Texas.

“America is the brightest beacon of freedom the world has ever known because of all who have honorably worn the uniform of the mightiest military in the history of the world,” Governor Abbott said during the presentation. His words were beautiful as he spoke about both Chris and Ed:
“For their remarkable valor and selfless service, it is my distinct honor to present the Texas Legislative Medal of Honor to Lt. Col. Ed Dyess and Chief Petty Officer Chris Kyle. We can never repay the debt we owe for the lives these men saved and the freedom they preserved, but today we honor their memory, their patriotism and their sacrifice.”
A huge congratulations and thank you to the two men who gave so much to their country.
Earlier this year, Chris and Chad were honored with a tribute song by country artist Wynonna Judd and Pete Scobell, who is also a former Navy SEAL. “Hearts I Leave Behind” is a raw, bittersweet, and extremely powerful song; you can really feel the love pour out from the lyrics.
God bless our troops and those who make the ultimate sacrifice for this great nation. They may be gone, but will definitely never be forgotten.
HEARTS I LEAVE BEHIND LYRICS
I wanna find what others rarely find
Conscience clean and peace of mind
Life like a book I’m proud to sign
I wanna roll on a road of my own design
We’re fear and faith they’re intertwined
Hoping there’s a finish line
Within the hearts I leave behind
If God lets me choose where I go when I die
Then I’ll lay my head down where love resides
And I’ll never have to say goodbye
I’ll live in the hearts I’ll leave behind
I wanna leave a mark a permanent kind
And I was here that don’t fade with time
A sacred place that’s only mine
Within the hearts of those I leave behind
If God lets me choose where I go when I die
Then I’ll lay my head down where love resides
And I’ll never have to say goodbye
I’ll live in the hearts I’ll leave behind
If God lets me choose where I go when I die
Then I’ll lay my head down where love resides
And I’ll never have to say goodbye
I’ll live in the hearts I’ll leave behind
