The King of Rock and Roll has always impressed fans with his dreamy good-looks, and hip-shaking moves on stage. It didn’t take long for Elvis Presley to become a household name that would span generations and genres. He has become a lifelong legend, and will always remain the original “King”.
Presley has had a number of hits, but one of the more famous is “Blue Suede Shoes”. The song was recorded by many artists, and Presley was not the first. The rock and roll standard was originally written and recorded by Carl Perkins in 1955, and later performed live by Presley (video below).
Presley performed the hit song three separate times on national television, giving the cover his own spin and flair. It was the first groundbreaking hit from his self-titled 1956 album, and reached #20 on the Billboard charts.

Well, it’s one for the money
Two for the show
Three to get ready
Now go, cat, go
But don’t you
Step on my blue suede shoes
You can do anything
But stay off of my blue suede shoes
Well, you can knock me down
Step in my face
Slander my name
All over the place
Do anything that you want to do
But uh-uh, honey
Lay off of my shoes
Don’t you step on my blue suede shoes
Well, you can do anything
But stay off of my blue suede shoes
Let’s go, cat!
Ah, walk the dog
You can burn my house
Steal my car
Drink my liquor
From an old fruit jar
Do anything that you want to do
But uh-uh, honey
Lay off of my shoes
And don’t you
Step on my blue suede shoes
Well, you can do anything
But stay off of my blue suede shoes
Ah, get
Yeah
Well, it’s one for the money
Two for the show
Three to get ready
Now go, go, go!
But don’t you
Step on my blue suede shoes
Well, you can do anything
But stay off of my blue suede shoes
Well, it’s
Blue, blue
Blue suede shoes
Blue, blue
Blue suede shoes, yeah!
Blue, blue
Blue, suede shoes, baby
Blue, blue
Blue suede shoes
Well, you can do anything
But stay off of my blue suede shoes!
