Y’all are going to need tissues for this one – break them out!

During the 30th Academy of Country Music Awards in 1995, Loretta Lynn was surprised with a once in a lifetime award – and a well deserved award! Loretta received the ACM Pioneer Award, which honors outstanding country stars that have made new achievements in the country music world.

Prior to the presenting of the award, a slideshow of Loretta’s musical achievements played across the stage. Loretta couldn’t help but break down as fellow country legends honored her and thanked her for all that she has done for the music industry.

The award was then presented by Faith Hill, Lisa Gibbons, Reba McEntire, Pam Tillis and Patty Loveless.

And here’s where it gets really emotional…

Loretta approached the stage, tissues in hand, and began thanking everyone for the honor. After thanking her fans and fellow artists, she thanked the most important person in her life… her husband, just a year before his passing in 1996.

Loretta said,

I’d like to say that I thank my husband for me being in the business. He’s in the hospital right now, and I left his side because he made me. And then when I got out here, and I called back, he was a little worse than what he was when I left, and we thought we’d have to leave last night… I want to thank all of you, and thank my husband, Mooney Lynn!

Beautifully said Loretta, we couldn’t think of anyone who deserved this award more than you!
