Miss Colorado Takes The Stage In Nursing Scrubs And Shocks Everyone

The affect a single person can have on another’s life can be incredibly powerful.

During the talent section of the Miss America 2016 competition, Miss Colorado changes the pace. While other contestants gave their all through dances, singing, and various other cute performances, Kelly Johnson told a story.

Standing tall and in a simple pair of nurses scrubs, Kelly speaks of a profound impact an alzheimer’s patient had on her life. Day-after-day, the patient, ‘Joe’, asked Johnson for changes she couldn’t give because she was “just a nurse”

One day Kelly found Joe in his room crying. Acknowledging his pain, Kelly told him “I know that this is really hard, but you aren’t defined by this disease. You are not just Alzheimer’s. You are still Joe.”

Joe replied “Nurse Kelly, the same goes for you. You are not ‘just a nurse’. You have changed my life because you have cared for me.”

Kelly goes on describing how Joe had reminded her that she was a lifesaver. She was an advocate, a compassionate person, and a dedicated caregiver.

You CANNOT miss this amazing monologue.
