Miranda Lambert shines in her own take on a honkey-tonk classic.

Lambert, known for her modern country sound, incredible vocals, and impressive songwriting dishes up a bit of old-school country with this chart-topper from Merle Haggard

The Way I Am” was originally released in 1980 and skyrocketed to the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Lambert herself is no stranger to successful songs either. In this live performance of Haggard’s classic tune, Lambert talks of her meager start as an artist.

Lambert would climb quickly from that position and in 2003, Lambert’s first hit single “Kerosene” (and album of the same name) debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Album Chart and would later go Platinum with four Top 40 singles. 11 of the 12 tracks on the album were co-written by Lambert only showing her musical genius even more.
