Kenny Rogers Spills The Beans On His ‘Spontaneous’ Relationship With Dolly Parton

31 years after “Islands In The Stream” blew up the charts across the world , Kenny Rogers opens up about his relationship with Dolly Parton.

Kenny Rogers is set to perform as part of the Showcase of Stars in September 2015 in Dollywood and sat down with Team Dolly a few days before his show.

Rogers’ relationship with Dolly’s famous attraction goes back to it’s opening. “I remember the opening when Dolly and I were there and I think she was a little hesitant as to whether or not the part was going to work…”

Rogers and Parton first met on her show Dolly! in the 70’s. He says she was “incredibly sweet” and they met later on where they both found colossal success with the single “Islands In The Stream”. He went on saying: “With me and Dolly…being together has its own rewards and creates its own memories. We’ve never planned anything…”

“It’s always kind of happened and that’s what makes our relationship so spontaneous.”

 Rogers continues to reminisce on his amazing time through the decades with Parton saying: 

“I hadn’t seen her in two or three years. She came walking in the studio and it was like we were together yesterday. That’s the beauty of her personality. “

Rogers will be bringing his Through The Years World Tour to Dollywood on September 27th, 2015 benefitting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
