Kiera Weathers walked on the X-Factor stage looking nervous as can be.
At this point in this competition, the “Girls” mentor, Rita Ora, can only choose six singers to continue competing. These six girls are sitting in chairs and if Ora prefers a different singer over the ones that are sitting down, she can replace them, and that person goes home.
A lot is on the line for Kiera as she announces her song choice. Probably the most well known song in any genre, she chooses Whitney Houston’s version of “I Will Always Love You“.
She reveals that her mother used to sing this song to her all the time and it’s a way for her to thank her mom for getting her where she is. She also tells the judges that she can feel her mom and this song is extremely special to the two of them.
She begins the song, and her voice is stunning. The way she hits the high notes gave us chills and the song’s emotion overcomes her. Between phrases, she is sobbing on the ground, but manages to continue to deliver an amazing performance.
Following her performance, she receives a standing ovation from the judges and the entire audience, who are cheering for her to get a chair.
Judge Nick Grimshaw was blown away by her performance, saying,
“That is probably the hardest song to take on, it’s one of the most famous songs ever. You told a story with that your performance then. And it was really really emotional. You can feel it in here. I felt every single word you sang tonight.”
Everyone could feel the emotion during this performance, even us. Take a look for yourself below!
