Priscilla Presley Opens Up About Doubts During Her Marriage To Elvis

Priscilla Presley recently sat down with Britain’s Hello! magazine to talk about her marriage to the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley.

The two met in 1959 when Priscilla was just 14 and he was 24, and married eight years later in 1967. Although they weren’t a couple, they stayed extremely close until his death in 1977.

“We were very, very close. I loved him with all my heart, he was the love of my life. He was absolutely the love of my life. He was the father of my child and I learned so much from that man.”

Although their bond seemed unbreakable during their time together, Priscilla did worry about Elvis’ infidelities, which ultimately ended their marriage in 1973.

“Elvis being in rock ‘n’ roll and being one of the most famous icons in history… I had fears that I’d lose him,” she said in the interview. “Being young, I never wanted to leave town or even visit my parents as I didn’t want to give him that chance, thinking that someone would come and take my place.”

Not only was she a young bride, but she also became a young mother, just nine months after their wedding day. Lisa Marie, the couple’s only daughter, now has seven-year-old twins and Priscilla has some advice for them about marrying young.

I would tell them that they have to live life a bit more and do the things they want to do first. Make sure that they feel complete within themselves. You have to have some experience, and you have to really know the person that you’re with – rushing into something doesn’t lead to anything good.
