With his first single just recently debuting in July 2015, William Michael Morgan is definitely new to the music industry. Although he may be new, his voice and style make him sound like he’s been singing for decades.

At just 22-years-old, this young superstar-to-be has already made a name for himself and caught the eye of famed record producer Scott Hendricks.

Citing true country classic influences like Keith WhitleyMark Chesnutt, Merle Haggard, and George Jones, Morgan has a style that will remind you of the very beginnings of country music.

Morgan picked up and moved to Nashville when he turned 18, and by the time he was 19, he had inked a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music, and shortly following a recording deal with the company Hendricks works for, Warner Music Nashville.

Taking a page from the era of country music that shaped his style, Morgan pays tribute to days past with a heart-wrenching acoustic performance of Hank Williams Sr.‘s “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry”

Watch the video below of this incredibly talented artist performing a 1949 country legend’s chart-topping ballad.
