Dolly Parton Shares Her Secret To Keeping Her Marriage ‘Stronger Than Ever’

Dolly Parton has always kept her personal life private. That is especially true when it comes to her 49-year union to husband Carl Dean. The couple has managed to keep their marriage “stronger than ever” after so many years, begging the question: What is their secret? 

When asked for her advice by Closer Weekly, Parton humorously answers, 

“The secret to a long marriage is to stay gone.”

What’s even funnier is that she might actually be on to something. Over the course of her marriage, Parton has spent a lot of time on the road without Carl. He prefers to stay away from the media and touring around, but recently he had a reason to join his wife in the spotlight.

When Parton found out she had kidney stones in late September, the couple changed their tune. A week after being admitted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee she underwent surgery to have them removed. Thankfully, she is healthy now! 

Throughout the startling experience, Carl didn’t leave his wife’s side. He was determined to stay with her until the doctors issued a clean bill of health. So sweet!
