He once won the CMA Awards’ coveted Entertainer of the Year Award for good reason. Mel Tillis has been entertaining country music fans for almost five decades, with big hits including “I Ain’t Never”, “Good Woman Blues” and “Coca-Cola Cowboy”.

During a special performance at the Grand Ole Opry on June 6, 2007, Tillis was performing some fan-favorite songs and really took us back to the good ole days when he sang “Coca-Cola Cowboy”.

He released the song in June 1979 as the first single off his album Mr. Entertainer. It was also featured in the Clint Eastwood movie Every Which Way But Loose and Bandit Goes Country, which Tillis himself co-starred.

During each chorus, he sang the first couple lyrics and pointed his microphone to the audience so they could sing along with him. His comedic timing was impeccable, and stage presence was top-notch, even being 75 years old at the time!

The crowd was loving every second of the performance, and so were we! Watch him perform his hit song below.
