Homeless Veterans Choir Delivers Soulful Performance On America’s Got Talent

New Directions Veterans Choir

This performance and story is enough to give anyone chills.

At first glance, this group looks like the average bunch of choir singers, except they’re not. The stories they share, and the music that they make deserves recognition. All 7 singers have unique backgrounds rooted in the military and crippling homelessness that forced them to seek alternative help.

New Directions got their first “big break” on America’s Got Talent. They primarily sing renditions of doo-wop, soul, traditional gospel and popular music, showcasing all of their talent in the first performance. Their audition received national attention, and since their debut, the a cappela group has gone on to perform at the 2000 Democratic National Convention, and for members of Congress.

The group is comprised of U.S. Veterans who were previously homeless. They each have turned their lives around with the help of New Directions, and hope to inspire other veterans who are struggling. They truly do have a special sound, and their motivation is inspiring.

Watch as New Directions completely blows away the America’s Got Talent judges with their first audition. Enjoy!

God bless our United States troops and Veterans!
