The Louisiana native, and star of Celebrity Apprentice, Trace Adkins, took the stage at the Tennessee Valley Fair in late 2015 to give his devoted fans a taste of the music he’s been working hard on.
Armed with a glossy black guitar, his signature black cowboy hat, and his wall-shaking baritone voice, Adkins started with a very relatable introduction to his upcoming single “Jesus And Jones”.
“It talks about growing up,” Adkins says before performing the new song. He talks about starting out in church, but somewhere along the way he “ended up going bad”. “You find yourself stuck there,” he continues, “between Jesus and Jones.”
Adkins has charted more than 20 singles and many struck the No. 1 position. His latest work “Jesus And Jones” has had fans on the edge of their seats since his last album debuted in 2013. His first single from his new album is scheduled to hit radio on January 19th, 2016.
The song, “Jesus And Jones” was written co-written by country colleague Tyler Farr and Adkins has been including it in his set during recent concerts. Of the song, Adkins talks how it relates to him in a recent interview.
“That’s where I am. I’ve always been in that place. I started out singing gospel music and then found myself singing George Jones songs in a beer joint. So you have this kind of struggle there internally between those two things. Sometimes I’m a good boy, sometimes I’m not.”
No announcement has been made for the full album’s release date yet, but he says he’s been working on it for the last couple years.
