The classic country sound of Keith Whitley is something to be treasured. He was taken from us too soon, but his talent will never be forgotten.

His music will always live on in his honor. Whitley’s career was cut short, but the mark he has made on country music is everlasting. In his roughly 6-year long career he charted 19 singles on the Billboard charts, and his signature song “Don’t Close Your Eyes” became ranked as Billboard’s #1 Country song of 1988.

Another single that reached the #1 spot was “It Ain’t Nothing”. The song was released as the second single from his 1990 album I Wonder Do You Think Of Me, and garnered a lot of attention for it’s classic sound. How could you not fall in love with that country twang?!

Sadly, “It Ain’t Nothing” was Whitley’s fifth and last #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. It also became his second posthumous chart-topper. The song reached the #1 spot seven months after his death.

The video below gives us a chance to reflect on the life and career of Whitley. A slide show of family photos circulates as his last #1 hit, “It Ain’t Nothing” plays in the background.
