9-Year Old Becomes Internet Star After Camera Captures Him Singing Whitney Houston Hit

A Texas boy has become a viral sensation after his aunt posted a video of him singing along in the car with a Whitney Houston hit.

Dane Miller, a 9-year old with Down Syndrome, has captured millions of hearts with his enthusiastic performance of “I Have Nothing,” Houston’s Academy Award nominated song from The Bodyguard. Dane’s Aunt, Jeanne Miller, spoke with ABC News about the video, saying that Dane is extremely proud of it. 

“He’s very high-functioning so if he hears music, it’s just something that sticks with him. He’s very proud [of the video],” Miller said. “He just smiles and giggles.”

Danna Miller, Dane’s mom, said that her son got hooked on Whitney Houston’s music after watching a documentary about the late singer. He started downloading her songs and “got stuck” on “I Have Nothing.” Dane’s love for the song is apparent in the video that has now surpassed 20 million views on Facebook.

Music is a passion for Dane, and so is life. The joy that radiates from Dane is hard to ignore, something that his parents want to share with the world. On the heels of his recent, unexpected internet stardom, the Millers have started a YouTube channel called Amazing Dane where they can share Dane’s music and joy. 

One video in particular posted to his YouTube channel captures Dane’s wonderful sense of humor and contagious laugh. During an interview in the family’s backyard, Dane gets a serious case of the giggles. 

“When we had Dane, we didn’t know that he had Down syndrome, but it wouldn’t have mattered,” Danna Miller told ABC News. “He has been probably the biggest blessing of our lives. He is just so loving and joyful.

“He is what’s good about this world.”
