9-Year-Old Girl Sings ‘Harper Valley PTA’ For Crowd in Pouring Rain

The rain wasn’t going to put a damper on this 9-year-old’s day! Abby Bolton powered through her performance in the pouring rain at a Labor Day Celebration in 2017.

The elementary schooler brought the sass to the stage while singing the rebellious song “Harper Valley PTA.” Originally performed by Jeannie C. Riley, the 1968 hit won a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance, Female and a CMA Award for Song of the Year.

The song tells a tale of a widowed woman, Mrs. Johnson, who receives a note from the Harper Valley Parent Teacher Association scolding her behavior and parenting techniques. Mrs. Johnson marches down to the PTA meeting and gives them a piece of her mind while insulting each and every one of them along the way.

Abby embodied Mrs. Johnson to a tee with her spunky and larger than life onstage personality!

While she seemed to stay dry thanks to the stage’s overhang, it looks like the audience may not have been so lucky! Abby’s talent was enough to keep the audience entertained and forget about the rain pouring down on them!
