Riley Keough Discusses Life Growing Up As Elvis Presley’s Granddaughter

The family resemblance is unmistakable.

Riley Keough may not have Elvis Presley’s last name, but she has clearly inherited his looks, charm, and talent. In fact, not having the Presley last name has been an advantage for the actress and she shared why that is with Nylon Magazine.

According to the magazine interview, not having The King’s last name made growing up a lot easier on Keough.

“I didn’t have it as hard as my mom. I didn’t have his last name,” she said. “There’s something about that… writing my name, it’s not Presley. That’s heavy.”

Even though she grew up around her grandfather’s legacy, Keough explains that his memory was “acknowledged and treated like what he is, which is a family member. It was never like, ‘He was very famous.’ I was aware of the legacy because I was around it growing up. We were always going to Graceland – but it’s never burdened me in any way really.”

Keough didn’t want to start a career until later in life. She didn’t rush to Hollywood in her teenage years, so could have a childhood and time to grow up. Now she is fully taking ahold of her career and everything seems to be falling into place.

You can catch Keough in the new series Daisy Jones and The Six, only available on Amazon Prime Video. The costumer on the show made sure to tie in a few details of Presley’s.
