Joey + Rory Look Back On Cherished Family Vacation Before Cancer Returned

Rory Feek

Singer/songwriter duo, Joey + Rory Feek have been through some really tough times in the last few months, but they’re the kind of people who cherish every moment they’re given and appreciate all the love and blessings in their lives.

In a recent post to social media, the husband of country music duo, Joey + Rory, opened up his heart to fans and openly recalled one of the brightest moments their family shared last year.

“…remembering this morning that last February, right around this time, we took a family trip together to Hawaii celebrate my upcoming birthday. What a difference a year makes,” Rory wrote. “The only thing that’s changed is everything. And nothing.

Attached to his words was one of his personal blog posts, dated March 19th, 2015 – just a short time before they would reveal that Joey’s cervical cancer had returned.

During that trip, the duo’s family visited Hawaii and documented the entire trip on both photos and videos that Rory shared throughout the blog post.

For two weeks, we didn’t just walk down memory lane… we made incredible memories that will last a lifetime!  We walked beaches, hiked craters, caught waves, climbed volcanos, road catamaran’s, drank mai-tai’s and even blew out a few candles together.  It was our favorite vacation we’ve ever taken,” Rory wrote on his blog. “There was no music, no plan, no rush… just us all being together as a family.  I loved it.

He compiled a video of the family’s favorite moments along the trip and included that in his blog as well. Their story is one of legend and entirely heartbreaking. It was just a few months after this trip that they announced Joey had decided to stop all treatment and enjoy the time God had given her at their home.
