Giving voice to the working man, Aaron Tippin released fiery blue collar anthem “You’ve Got to Stand for Something.” Conveying the words of his father, the country singer gives a stern warning to those who compromise their integrity in order to get ahead.

Going with the theme of the song, the country singer filmed the music video for “You’ve Got to Stand for Something” in the style of a father passing along the important life lesson to his son. The heartwarming video was directed by Bing Sokolsky and premiered in early 1991.

“He’d say you’ve got to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything/ You’ve got to be your own man not a puppet on a string,” sings Tippin. “Never compromise what’s right and uphold your family name/ You’ve got to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything.”

“You’ve Got To Stand For Something” was co-written by Tippin’ and Buddy Brock as the lead single and title track for his 1991 album. After hearing the country singer perform the song, iconic comedian Bob Hope invited him to perform on his USO tour for soldiers serving in the Gulf War.
