Adam Levine Gives Details On ‘Expensive’ Prank He Pulled On Blake Shelton In 2018

Adam Levine stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to talk about everything from the show, to the birth of his daughter Dusty Rose, to how he chose the name for his latest album, and his friendship with Blake Shelton.

To no surprise at all, our ears perked up when we heard Blake Shelton’s name! Kimmel brought up the fact that just a couple years after Levine himself was named PEOPLE Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive, Shelton took home the the honor in 2017.

When Kimmel said that, the audience, and Levine’s, reaction was priceless! Several audience members burst out laughing, and Levine just shrugged comically agreeing with them.
He admitted that Shelton likely chased after the title for a couple years because when Levine was the Sexiest Man Alive, the country singer thought it was very cool. In an attempt to play an epic practical joke on his pal, Levine told Kimmel a story that the talk show host actually had a part in, unknowingly.
“When I got Sexiest Man Alive, I made a speech on your show, as you remember,” he reminded Kimmel. “Behind me was this, like, huge picture of the cover that was, like, so giant.”
“I don’t know if you know this,” Levine continued. “I took it and framed it. This is not a cheap practical joke, by the way. It was a lot more expensive than I care to admit. I framed it and sent it to his house in Oklahoma.”
The “I’ll Name The Dogs” singer took the prank in stride, putting the “gift” up in his barn, where, according to Levine, it remains to this day. Despite playing an epic prank on his friend, Shelton earning the coveted title concerned the Maroon 5 frontman.
Levine told Kimmel, “He’s not sexy. It almost made it feel worse that I got it. It cheapened it a lot. Because sexy dudes got it before I did, and I was like ‘Yeah, cool, guess I’m sexy like that.’ And now Blake has it and I’m like, ‘Guess I’m not as sexy as I thought.”
